Neck & shoulder pain

Neck and shoulder tension from posture, stress, or injury — addressed with acupuncture, cupping, and Tui Na at Acupuncture Healing Center Chicago.

Overview

About neck & shoulder pain

Neck and shoulder pain builds gradually — hours at a screen, phone posture, stress carried in the upper body — and often becomes chronic before patients seek help. In TCM the shoulders and neck sit along the Gallbladder, Small Intestine, and Bladder channels; stagnation here is closely tied to unresolved stress patterns. Untreated, referred headaches, jaw tension, and arm numbness commonly follow.

Treatment

How we treat it

We generally use local trigger-point acupuncture across the trapezius and levator scapulae, distal points to move channel Qi, and cupping to draw stagnation out of the deeper tissue. For work-related presentations we also discuss workstation adjustments and daily mobility. Most patients experience notable release within the first 2–3 sessions.
