Hives & urticaria

Hives in TCM are classified by cause and skin appearance — Wind-Heat, Wind-Cold, Damp-Heat, or Blood deficiency generating Wind. Chronic urticaria without identifiable trigger particularly responds to internal pattern-based treatment because the immune-modulating goal aligns with how TCM approaches recurrent Wind conditions.

Weekly acupuncture with an appropriate herbal formula usually reduces flare frequency within 4–6 weeks. Chronic patterns may need 3+ months of consistent care. For acute severe hives with airway involvement, emergency care comes first.
