TMJ disorders

Jaw pain, clicking, and clenching from TMJ dysfunction — approached with acupuncture and Tui Na at Acupuncture Healing Center Chicago.

Overview

About tmj disorders

TMJ dysfunction combines muscular tension, joint mechanics, and often unresolved stress patterns. TCM connects the jaw to the Stomach and Gallbladder channels and reads persistent clenching as an expression of Liver Qi stagnation. Treatment addresses both the local mechanics and the systemic pattern feeding into it.

Treatment

How we treat it

We use fine needles at points around the jaw joint, along the temporal region, and at distal Liver/Gallbladder points. Tui Na work inside the mouth (with consent) can be highly effective for stubborn cases. Nightguard use is worth coordinating with a dentist for grinding-driven cases.
