Post-stroke recovery
Acupuncture and herbal support alongside conventional stroke rehab — offered at Acupuncture Healing Center Chicago clinics.
Overview
About post-stroke recovery
Post-stroke acupuncture has some of the strongest research evidence in the field. TCM views the aftermath as a combination of Qi and Blood stagnation plus underlying deficiency, and treatment aims to support the brain and body’s natural recovery process, particularly in the first 6–12 months when neuroplasticity is highest.
Treatment
How we treat it
Scalp acupuncture, body acupuncture targeting affected limbs, and coordinated Tui Na form the core of most protocols. Sessions are often 2–3 times per week early on, tapering as recovery consolidates. We coordinate closely with physical, occupational, and speech therapy — this is complementary care, not a substitute.
